Over and over, I’ve heard runners say “I’m older, I can’t….”
I say, start that sentence over as “Because I’m older, I can…..”
Huge difference.
Sure, maybe if we were speed demons in our younger days, we may not reach those blistering distances again, or if we could eat anything and never gain an ounce, we have to be super careful now, but there’s nothing that says we have to succumb to age and disappear in the background.
I refuse and I know many people just like me. Today, I talk to two amazing people who are accepting life with open arms.
Tony Portera is an amazing ultrarunner. He’s co-host with Ruel Abadam of the podcast the Ultra Diner and he’s completed many of the world’s most difficult races. He talks about those and more.
Lara Zuehlke’s podcast Fit Over 40 interested me a while ago. She’s the found of Zulafit, where she helps women learn to have more balanced lives with food. Her podcast is no nonsense and nails down a lot of causes why we overeat and speaking with her was really interesting and enjoyable.
