After I had my second hip replacement this past March, I spent many hours with my physical therapy getting my hip muscles and my whole left side back into working order. Once again, she used the same invaluable tool she used after my first hip replacement, a massage gun.
Why had I gone so long without one?
Well, the price, for one. They used to be outrageously expensive. Even just a few years ago, we couldn’t buy one under one hundred dollars and that was just too much for me at the time. But now, there are terrific models at around $35. I bought mine for $45 and I love it!
Using a massage gun in place of a foam roller is much more efficient and fast! What used to take 15 minutes takes 3 to 5 minutes, or less!
And, even better……there’s absolutely no reason to be in uncomfortable positions just to roll out a muscle. You can do it sitting or standing.
I bought mine on Amazon during Amazon Prime Days. I did do a little research. It’s not a big brand name, but the brand I chose had great reviews and the seller had a great history. It was delivered within a couple days.
Even though I chose one with several different heads, I only use two, maybe a third occasionally. What I do love about it is the battery charge holds for a few hours and it’s not very heavy. It is also pretty quiet. Another option you might want to think about is how many settings it has. Think about what’s important to you.
Your massage gun will come in a handy container and you can take it traveling with you and use it at whatever races you go to. Just charge it up beforehand and you’re good! Don’t cheat yourself out of this great tool for your running. It’s worth the investment.
