Whenever I get a new piece of equipment or new shoes and the like, I’m going to try to write a review to let you know my opinion of the product. We’re all paying so much for everything, I want to provide an unbiased voice. Rarely have I received free things and even if I have, I tell the companies that I’m still going to be honest about the product.
This past weekend was the Ride to Walk race in Rocklin. This was my second year participating in this terrific race. I hope you were able to hear my episode about the whole weekend on this week’s show. It’s a great event and one you should join us next year!
Well, last year I was much better prepared as I went camping after the race. That forced me to be better prepared. I wrote down everything I needed to bring and I checked to make sure everything was in working order at least a week before I left.
Not this year. Nope! At least not as far as my hand-held bottle is concerned. My old Nathan bottle leaked pretty badly, so I knew I needed to replace it. After picking up the rental car, I swung by REI to buy another, a Nathan’s one.
And, honestly, I don’t like it as much. It has a hard plastic bottle, which is OK, but the spout is really hard to pull up. I usually do this with my teeth, but it’s so difficult, I don’t want to chip a tooth, so I’ve had to do this with my other hand. A hand-held bottle isn’t a complicated device.
On the plus side, it has a couple pockets, one with a zipper, and I like that. REI had another one with zero pockets. What’s up with these running gear companies making stuff without pockets??? RUNNERS NEED POCKETS in things!
I’m going to start a company called POCKETS and it’s going to be things with lots of pockets!
I bought it for $35.00, which for that price, you would think it would be a bit more user-friendly.
Anyway, I’ll probably like this bottle more as time goes on and maybe the spout will get easier to open. Most of the day using it during the race was not easy. It was a little frustrating, so I didn’t like that. But we’ll see. Right now, I’m not too impressed.
